Dianne O’Brien (Known as Aunty Di)

Join proud Yorta Yorta woman Aunty Di to hear about her upcoming memoir Daughter of the River Country

Raised in an era of widespread racism and betrayed by the people who should have been there for her, a series of tragedies leads Dianne to discover she is a Yorta Yorta woman, a daughter of the river country.

Hear Aunty Di’s story in her words as a victim of the stolen generations, a survivor of abuse, and a champion of hope.

Join us for a special virtual event via Zoom in the Shepparton Library or from your home...

Bookings essential. Please call 1300 374 765 or email to book your place in-library or to receive a link for the online event.

NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. It is a time to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and an opportunity to recognise the contributions that Indigenous Australians make to our country and our society.
Goulburn Valley Libraries has an Indigenous Collection in both physical and digital items.
Visit the library to borrow an indigenous picture book, a novel, or a non-fiction book – there is something for every age. We have a growing collection of DVD and Audio items to watch or listen to.
Download our apps - Libby and Borrowbox – to access adult and young adult Indigenous items as either an eBook or an eAudiobook.
Don’t forget to have a look at The First Australians section on Kanopy (our streaming service), along with a variety of other movies and documentaries to choose from.
