Fiona Lowe - Author Tour

Join best-selling author Fiona Lowe for a talk about her new novel A Home Like Ours.
A picturesque small town, a cosy community garden, a facade of tolerance and acceptance - but when three women with wildly different loyalties come together, what secrets and lies will be revealed?

Sydney Writers' Festival - Live and Local

Prepare to be engaged by conversations, debates and discussions as the Festival brings the world’s finest authors to your library in real time. As well as hearing new ideas from great thinkers, you'll have the opportunity to participate in Q&A sessions at each event, sending questions direct to the stage.

Furphy Literary Award - Applications now open

Furphy Literary Award annual short story & poetry competition for juniors & youth age writers who live in the Goulburn Valley.

Junior Short Story – 12 years & younger, 2000 word short story - any theme
Junior Poetry – 12 years & younger, 20 lines on any theme
Youth Short Story – 13-17 years, 2000 word short story on any theme
Youth Poetry – 13-17 years, 30 lines any theme

The Furphy Literary Awards are built on the belief that “Everyone can write at least one good story”. Students have no limitations on what they can write about: it can be fiction, non-fiction, fantasy, thriller. .

Each award category will have prizes of first place of $300, second place $100 and third place $50. Applications can be submitted online up until May 31st 11.59pm.

Film Screening - Looby

To mark 100 years of the Archibald Prize, a documentary film that captures the art, life and times of the competition’s most controversial winner: Keith Looby.
Shepparton Library, Thursday 29th April at 6pm, followed by Q&A with the producers. Bookings essential.

Rhyme & Storytime Returns!

We are now able to offer Rhyme & Storytime at most libraries. For ages 2 - 6,  Story Time provides children and their caregivers an opportunity to share and experience the joy of reading.
As places are limited, bookings are essential and can only be made one week ahead. Phone 1300 374 765 and follow the prompts to book a spot at your library.

Have you discovered Goulburn Valley Libraries great new online reference collection Cloudsource Open Access yet? It's a terrific free resource for those studying, or anyone looking for reputable information on thousands of topics.

This innovative pilot program makes it easy for you to find articles from high-quality research journals. CloudSource aggregates and curates open-access items from some of the world’s top scholarly publishers and covers a wide range of topics with particular emphasis on science, technology and health disciplines.

Cloudsource Open Access is available when searching our catalogue - search your topic and then click the Online Articles tab at the top.

Craft & Chat

Join us for a monthly Craft n' Chat catch-up!

Craft ‘n Chat
is an approximately 60 min session to get together, learn a new skill, have a chat and go home with a beautiful accessory. Coming up, we have drawing, gift box making, card making and more!

Sessions are run monthly at each library
. Bookings are required as numbers are limited.

Covid Safe Practices are adhered to for all sessions. If you are unwell, please stay home.

School Holiday Activities

'Out of this World' #TakeHome craft packs will be available at all Libraries from Thursday 1st April until Sunday 18th April.

Each pack contains 5 space themed crafts to take home and get creative with.
So, rocket down to your local Goulburn Valley Library and pick up your free craft pack!
