FAQ

Membership of Goulburn Valley Libraries is free. Simply fill out a membership form at any branch and provide verification of your current address. If you are under 18 years of age, you will need a parent or guardian to sign their membership form as guarantor. Please bring your card each time you wish to borrow.

You can also complete the Online Registration Form and then visit the library to pick up your membership card.

We have self-checkout loan kiosks in all our branches so you must bring your membership card with you to borrow.

Opening times for our branches can be found at Locations. The Mobile Library timetable is also available.

When you are visiting the library, you can have unlimited loans for a four week loan period.

You can renew items twice, provided the item is not already overdue, or is required by another member. You can renew items at your local branch  over the phone, or online by choosing 'My Account' at the top of the page. Log on using your membership number and PIN, go to checkouts and simply select the items you want to renew.

If your loans are not yet overdue, you can renew them yourself by following the 'My Account' link at top and logging in using your library card barcode number and your PIN - call any branch to get your PIN if you don't know it.

Click on the 'Checkouts' tab to see what items you have out. Tick the ones you want to renew, then click 'Renew'. Your item will be renewed for full loan period unless it is overdue, has been renewed twice already, or has a hold for another patron on it.

Any branch will also be happy to renew your items for you over the phone, and branch staff can also renew overdue items for you.

You can contact us and our friendly staff will be able to help, or click the "Forgotten Your PIN?" link on our Log In page to reset it. You must have provided us your email address to receive the reset message. PINs must be between 4 and 8 characters and include at least 1 number.

PINs are case-sensitive: bear this in mind when entering your PIN. PINs must be between 4 and 8 characters and include at least 1 number.

Once you are logged in to 'My Account', you can change your PIN at any time.

All our branch libraries have all-hours book chutes, so you can return your items at any time - and to any branch.

You can place a hold by logging in to 'My Account' using the barcode number on your library card and your PIN. Search the catalogue for the item you want and when you have found it, choose 'Place Hold' from the 'Select an Action' menu to the right of the screen. Select the branch where you want to collect the item. You will be notified when the item is available.

Our friendly staff are also happy to help place holds for you over the phone on 1300 674 765 or at a branch library.

Once you are logged in to 'My Account', you can send us a request using the 'Send a Request' link at the top of the page. Please provide as much information as possible so we can locate the book for you.

Donations of books or money are gratefully accepted. All items will be assessed and if we think they don't meet our selection criteria, we will include them in library book sales. Donations of money, or bequests, are also accepted and are tax deductible.

The library takes your privacy very seriously. Our Public Privacy Statement can be found at our Policies page.
