Create your profile on readbooks.com.au/wwr or pick up a paper-based form from your local library branch and log your reading days from Monday June 1st to Monday 31st August!
With challenges to take on, themes to explore, and special events happening throughout the winter, there's something for everyone to keep the reading momentum rolling. Let's make this winter a season of literary magic!
The Warm Winter Read is designed for participants aged 16+. All participants must confirm that they meet this age requirement when creating an individual user account on the Read Books website. Participants can register and log their reading either online at readbooks.com.au/wwr or by using the paper tracking logs.
REGISTRATION
To participate in this challenge, library users are required to register for an account through the PLV Read Books website: readbooks.com.au/wwr or by using the paper reading tracker.
LOGGING
Participants are asked to rate or review a book OR log each day they read something, regardless of whether they read for 5 minutes or 5 hours. Read more under ‘Participation and Prize Levels’.
BONUS READING CHALLENGES
Participants are encouraged to tick off nine (9) challenges at any time. These are not compulsory but designed to encourage readers to participate in various parts of the reading challenge.
PAPER BOOKLET
Reading tracker & Book reviews!
For people who cannot participate in the challenge using the Read Books website, there is a paper reading tracker. The paper reading tracker features a three-month calendar to track reading for the duration of winter, also space to rate or review books, a book bingo, and steps to develop healthy reading habits. The booklet includes a cut-out section for participants to fill out for the chance to win a bookish prize. You can collect a paper reading tracker from your local library.
PARTICIPATION AND PRIZE LEVELS.
Book reviews:
Rate or review a book through the website or on the paper form. Every one, three, six or nine book reviews or ratings count as an entry into the prize draw.
Reading tracker:
Participants can log each reading day online OR circle the date in the calendar on the paper form. Every five, ten, twenty and forty-five days count as an entry into the prize draw. As participants level up, they will stay in the running for each previous prize level, increasing their chances of winning.
PRIZE LEVELS
- LEVEL ONE: Rate or review one book AND/OR track five days of reading.
- LEVEL TWO: Rate or review three books AND/OR track ten days of reading.
- LEVEL THREE: Rate or review six books AND/OR track twenty days of reading.
- LEVEL FOUR: Rate or review nine books AND/OR track forty-five days of reading.
